What We Do

Each fall, the Mahtomedi Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (MPTO) hosts the Fun Run at both Wildwood and O.H. Anderson as our biggest fundraiser of the year! The Fun Run is an opportunity for every class to get outside, get active together, and help raise money for their schools.

Prior to the day of the Fun Run, students participate in fundraising for their school. Students are encouraged to ask trusted adults to “sponsor” their participation in the Fun Run. If each student is able to raise a total of $20, we will meet our $32,000 goal! Of course any amount helps us work towards our goal, whether it’s $2 or $200.

Money raised by the MPTO, during the Fun Run and throughout the year, is reinvested in our elementary schools. Fun Run funds help support discretionary spending for teachers, specialists, and principals, teacher hospitality, assemblies and music programming, field trip subsidies, school events like Nature Day and Field Day and enrichment programs such as Art Adventure, Missoula Children’s Theatre. We also fund special requests—like the Lü System and adaptive climbing wall at Wildwood and various other items.

What does the Fun Run look like?

Each homeroom class at both WW and OHA will get outside for 20-minutes at an assigned time during the school day and work their way through an engaging and fun obstacle course run. Obstacles and fitness pit stops along the way include dancing, sack races, football toss, and more. Students work at their own pace and adapt each stop to their needs. It's fun for everyone!

When is the Fun Run?

October 6th @ Wildwood Elementary

October 13th @ O.H. Anderson Elementary

How do students participate in fundraising?

Students are encouraged to ask trusted adults to “sponsor” their participation in the Fun Run, whether that’s simply their own parents/guardians, grandparents, or friends and neighbors. The MPTO holds a Fun Run in lieu of programs that require parents and students to sell something to raise funds.

How do we donate?

Donation envelopes went home in backpacks on September 21st. If you haven’t return your envelope yet, YOU CAN STILL DO SO! Thank you for partnering with the MPTO to support our students, teachers, and schools!

Volunteer

The only way to attend the Fun Run is as an approved volunteer! Volunteers MUST have the required background check completed and on file with the district prior to the event. When signing up, you can see which grades/classrooms are participating during each timeslot. Due to overwhelming demand for volunteer slots, parent volunteer signups are sent out via email directly from the school before they are posted here.
